Programme

Rheumatology Fellowship Training

Objectives

  1. To produce well-trained paediatric rheumatologists capable of independently diagnose and provide care for rheumatologic conditions
  2. To generate skill paediatric rheumatologists confident in performing and prescribing rheumatology procedures 

Course Contents

  1. Fellows will be exposed to a full spectrum of childhood onset autoimmune disorders in our busy outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary lupus clinic and inpatient consultations.
  2. Fellows are expected to attend service didactic teaching, case and care conferences (local and nationwide), journal club and local symposiums and international meetings (optional).
  3. Fellows will have priority in performing rheumatology procedures including arthrocenthesis and intra-articular injection.
  4. Fellows will be exposed to multidisciplinary conferences with PM&R, radiology, nephrology, etc.
  5. Elective rotations to adult rheumatology, orthopaedic, PM&R, ophthalmology, ENT are available during the second year of training (optional).
  6. The third year is optional and is available to trainee interested in clinical or basic research.

Method

Trainees will have hand-on patient care via outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations. On-call for rheumatology consultations and participation in local and national conferences or meetings are compulsory. Third year trainee has option to participate in clinical or basic research. During the training period, trainees are encouraged to participate in community educational and support group program through our Juvenile Arthritis Support Group and Juvenile Lupus Support Group.

For Whom

Both local and international individuals who finished their paediatric training. Asia-Pacific candidates are encouraged.

Pre-requisite

All applicants must have a specialist degree in Paediatrics.

One year training – observership
Two or three year training – Fellowship training program

Rheumatology Fellowship Training Certificate from KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital

Positions/Training Places

One to two fellowship training positions per year
