DayOne Programme

The DayOne Programme, initiated in May 2022, by KKH Department of Child Development in collaboration with Lien Foundation, aims to provide the universal screening of caregivers for the presence or risk of mental health challenges at the emotionally difficult milestone when their preschool child is referred for developmental needs at KKH’s Department of Child Development (DCD).

  • Vision
All caregivers of children with developmental needs accessing child development services experience improved wellbeing.

  • Mission
To proactively identify the psychosocial needs of caregivers and provide a need-based intervention to support them in their caregiving journey.

The planning, screening and intervention teams consist of care coordinators, psychologists, medical social workers, developmental paediatricians, a psychiatrist, a research coordinator, and an administrator. As part of the intervention, DayOne offers tiered needs-based support and services (i.e. psychological support, counselling or psychiatric care) for the caregiver, across critical transition points.

Currently, DayOne has been piloted in KKH and is presently not available to the general public. In the next phase of the DayOne programme, KKH and Lien Foundation aims to establish a more scalable and sustainable model of care in the community.
