Profile

Dr Josephine Tan has been working with the Department of Paediatric Anaesthesia for almost 2 decades, and served as the previous Head of Department from 2007-2015. Her long service has been recently recognised with the Health Manpower Development Programme Award.

She currently chairs and is an advisor on several boards:
  • Medical Emergency Code and Training, KKH – Chair
  • Singapore Society of anaesthesiologists – President 2014-2015
  • SingHealth Academic Clinical Programme "Anaesthesiology and Perioperative medicine" – Vice Chair
  • World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists, Asian Australalasian Regional Section – Committee Member
  • Smile Asia – Board of Directors
  • Asian Society of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists – Committee Member

As a teacher and educator, Dr Tan is heavily involved in teaching and has an extensive teaching profile. This ranges from undergraduate teaching, to the anaesthesia residency programme, to courses for the continuing of medical education. She participates as core teaching faculty for the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, and is and examiner for the Masters of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) Primary, Final and Exit exam. Dr Tan is also teaching faculty for the Advanced Paediatric Life Support Course at KKH.
