Dr Ieera have been with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) since 2006, completing the advanced specialist training in O&G in 2012 and subsequently subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology. She has been working as a Consultant with the Department of Gynaecological Oncology since 2015. During her Gynaecological Oncology training, she received the HMDP award and went to Royal Marsden Hospital, London, UK for a fellowship. Prior to starting work in Singapore, she worked as an obstetrician and gynaecologist in UK as well as in India. Working in different countries has given her good exposure to various cultures and an idea about diverse medical practices.
As a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist in the last few years, she has managed complex oncology cases, performing complicated gynaecological surgeries, both open and laparoscopically, achieving the best possible results for her patients.
In addition to clinical work, she is also passionate about research and education. She has many publications in peer reviewed indexed journals. She takes an active part in teaching medical students from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU as well as residents in obstetrics and gynaecology.
She has been the recipient of many awards including the Dean’s award for excellence in teaching in 2017, Service from the Heart awards and the KKH and SingHealth Long Service Awards.
She enjoys working in an institution as part of a team where not only clinical but academic and research opportunities are also available for a more holistic development as a subspecialist.
