Specimen Collection and Despatch Services

DPLM Client Services receives samples collected in KK Women's and Children's Hospital, other hospitals, and external institutions including those based oversea. 

KK Women's and Children's Hospital

Samples from KK Women's and Children's Hospital should be despatched to the laboratory via the pneumatic tube system unless stated otherwise.

The following samples should not be sent by the pneumatic tube system.

1. All specimens for histopathology examination.
2. Prenatal specimens, bone marrow specimens, product of conception, non-neoplastic tissue and neoplastic tumours for Cytogenetic test should be sent by hand to Cytogenetics laboratory.
   
3. High Risk sample for example: from suspected, Ebola, H9N1, MERS-COV specimens should be hand delivered to the laboratory.

Specimen Despatch Services

Specimen for test to other hospitals and external institutions are despatched according to the following transport schedule.

*Specimens to arrive in lab 10 minutes before time of departure.
